User Research
Understanding users is the key to success. I love utilizing surveys, focus group, interviews, card sorting and other research methods to generate insights and conducting usability testing to gather feedbacks for design improvements.
Information Architecture
I reduce users’ cognitive load by minimizing the confusion and frustration through clear and logical structure. I ensure the information are prioritized and grouped in to a more digestible way.
Work Flow
By understanding how users would complete tasks and achieve their goals, I map out the user journey to identify critical pain points and work closely with product managers to comb through the work flow.
Wireframe
I use various tools to create wireframe to facilitate cross team communication and help with identifying usability issues early on design process.
Rapid Prototyping
I usually create click-through prototypes using Sketch and Principle/InVision and share with the stakeholders to gather feedbacks and evaluations. I work closely with product managers and engineers to go through quick iterations.
UI Design
I create pixel-perfect designs for responsive web pages, mobile applications and desktop software using Sketch and Adobe Creative Suite. I also work with html/CSS and some javascript.
Graphics
I create illustrations and icons to communicate technology terms and complex stories; design posters and product datasheet for marketing; and design logos for different products.
Motion and Animation
I usually use Principle and Adobe After Effects for creating GIF. I also use html/css to create simple .svg UI animations.
Agile Methodologies
With the experience of working in the agile team, I am familiar with Scrum and Kanban. I am also familiar with the product management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Asana, etc.
